Smaller actions most of the times
lead to greater results. Just consistency and positivity are required to get
the wrongdoings stopped in any field. In quite a recent case study from Pakistan,
its government had no choice but to install an effluent treatment plant in oneof its industrial areas by its own money after industries of the area refused
to obey the green laws. In fear of their exit to somewhere else government instead
of taking legal action against them offered a way-out and put up treatment
plant for the industries. Now it is convincing them to run and manage the plant
by self help basis. But the question is why government was forced to take such
a step where it had to spend its own money thought it was not bound to do so.
It is because a resident of the nearby residential area of the said industrial
region complained of uncontrolled industrial pollution to the higher court. As
a result government had to solve the problem after court verdict that is not
much easy for anyone to shelve or ignore.
So the lesson of this whole story
is that a person raised voice against the act of polluting by industries and
because of his complain now a treatment plant with a cost of $0.6 is ready to
be functional. It means regardless of the magnitude of the environmental
violation we must protest against the act of polluting wherever it is taking
place. Our motive should be to not only stop it but make the polluters feel
their heinous act will not go unnoted.
Here are 5 damned reasons you
must raise voice against every act of polluting
Balancing force
We all know that we cannot
revolutionize the development practices of the entire world in short period of
time. It will take quite a long time to synchronize every development activity
with the requirements of safe environment. Meanwhile should we stop the
development process? Or should we forget about the environment. Not at all,
both the options are extreme. We should go for a midway that is to let the
development continue but point out every violation by them to make them feel
they are not free to do whatever they want.
To activate regulators
In most of the developing and
least developing countries wherever development is done it is being considered
a great achievement. Because these countries lag the developed world so they
want to be developed as quickly as possible. Sometimes green regulators in such
countries close their eyes if developers are involved in any act of polluting
to speed up their developmental activities. If you raise voice against them the
regulators will have in their mind that their act of overlooking such
violations will be noted by people and eventually they have to take actions
against them.
To set example
If you raise the voice against
any act of polluting it is possible that your voice goes unheard in that case.
But those who are planning to do the same act will note your protest and will
be forced to take care of environment while their economic and development
activities.
To motivate others
In every society there are many
people who have high concerns on rising level of pollution but they don’t know
what to do to control a giant act of polluting. If you raise voice they would
come to know how to raise voice against any act of environmental violation. In
this way more people will follow you and a pressure will build up against
polluters.
For your children
If you keep silence over rising level of pollution, your children will have to survive in a more polluted world
than you did. So for the safety of your kids you should keep raising voice
against any act of polluting you see around your area.
